I’m Justin Moran, Forward Deployed Engineer Based in Chicago
I ship software where the customer already works. The interesting part is usually their constraint: a clinic that cannot show a number, an underwriter retyping a record, a loan officer who will not learn a new tool. Iowa State Computer Science, Psychology minor, May 2026.
Experience
Forward Deployed Engineer Intern: Deployed a two-sided platform into 200+ clinics. 10K+ daily users. Feedback from 229+ clinicians shipped to production.
Software Engineer Intern: Debugged live underwriting apps and integrated them with policy, claims, and billing. Removed 4,500+ hours a year of rekeying between systems.
Research Intern: Turned a framework-translation result into steps the lab could run without a rewrite.
B.S. Computer Science: Minor in Psychology.
How I Deploy
Watch the blocked job: The first request is usually a screen. The deployment is the workflow underneath it. I stay until I can name the step that is actually stuck.
Ship in their stack: REST, GraphQL, SQL, Stripe, the database they already have. A new platform is a last resort. Their staff will not adopt a second system of record.
Leave them able to run it: Adoption is part of the ship. Docs, a schema they can edit, and a release path that does not depend on me staying in the room.
